I have catered my fingers off today. Lots of food, lots of visitors, lots of happy children. All v. good. All v. knackering and far too dismal for me to blog about really. Can’t blog about other people’s children. Tis just not cricket. A girl has to have some standards. Admittedly mine are minimal, but I do have them.
Tiny blog today due to tiredness and general feelings of Sunday.
Ten cool things that happened:
- Oscar got to sing ‘birfday tchew’ which cheered him immensely.
- Tallulah looked absolutely gorgeous in her new Monsoon dress that her granny bought her yesterday and everyone told her how gorgeous she looked so she was very happy.
- I don’t have to cater any more parties until October. Oscar will be two. He won’t be expecting miracles. He will be happy with a large cake, an arsenal of weapons and a few goes round of ‘birfday tchew’. It will be a breeze in comparison.
- Jason is taking me away for a weekend in a fortnight to celebrate the fact that he got his new job. We are booked into a luxury suite in the Malmaison in Birmingham. Not so far from home that we will be worn out getting there. Far enough away from home for us not to keep sneaking round the corner to check on the kids. Great shopping, great restaurants and fabulous room with huge roll top bath, drench shower, four poster bed and cinema screen. I am packing the Mr. Kipling French Fancies as I type. I am very excited. I pray the children don’t come down with scabies. I love luxury hotels and having nothing to do. Hooray!
- Jason has booked his ten days away in Las Vegas with Lee to play poker in October. I will miss him, but he has promised to buy me shoes. If he wins big at poker I am allowed shiny things too. I am trying to focus on the positive. I know I am a consumer whore. I don’t care. I am excited for him because he is like a boy whose christmas present has come early. He loves Vegas. He loves poker.
- My cousin Tom came to stay with us this weekend. We haven’t seen him for ages because he is a worky boy. It was great.
- Our lovely friend Zoe came to see us for lunch today because she was working this afternoon and couldn’t make the party. It was her birthday last week. We filled her lap with goodies from Cath Kidston. She was very happy. We were very happy to see her.
- David Tennant is staying as Doctor Who and I don’t have to write a stiff letter to Russell. It was a very good episode. The boy done good. We didn’t have to talk about Doctor Who at breakfast for the first time in a week.
- I read Non-Working Monkey’s blog. She has found a blog about dogs in wigs. You can find it here on my dogs in wigs link. It made me laugh. I was also impressed that my linking skills are improving.
- I have been so good this week that this morning when I stepped on the scales I had already lost my seven pounds, despite my forays into the world of chocolate caramel shortcake and cheesecake earlier in the week. I was really good at the party and saved all my syn points for a slice of hedgehog birthday cake (Dalek cake is for the real birthday on Tuesday). I think that because the weigh in is at the end of the day that I will probably only have lost four pounds or so when it comes to weigh in time, but I am still really pleased by my noticeable progress. I tried on the Ted Baker dress. I look less like a cumberland sausage. This is good. Unfortunately my body shape has changed since I had Oscar and I am still not 100% happy with being seen out in public in it. I will endeavour to lose a few more pounds until the dress fits beautifully. I hope it will fit by the time we go away, then I can go out to dinner with Jason in it and splurge all my hard work in one go. I will go away looking thin and svelte. I will come back looking like a Cumberland Sausage but having had a fantastic time in the process. This is a good thing.

Oh yes! Except that I must just mention that Saj was twenty minutes early for the party. She made a sterling effort, set twenty seven alarm clocks and this is the first time in the history of ever that she has ever, ever, ever been early. It must be mentioned. It must be catalogued. Come judgement day it will be noted. Oh yes!
